The Peace Brigades International-Honduras Project has posted on social media:
“The members of the CMDBCP [the Municipal Committee in Defense of Common and Public Goods] in Tocoa remember Juan López—’who made nature a cause to live for’—as a ‘seed here in the Aguán, a seed of dignity and light. Peasant, Indigenous, and territorial struggles are struggles for the common good.’
PBI joins land and territory organizations and the Municipal Committee in Defense of Common and Public Goods on the second anniversary of Juan López’s ‘sowing’, keeping alive his memory and his legacy of protecting the Aguán, its rivers, and its forests.
We express our concern regarding the new precautionary measures for the alleged masterminds behind the murder, and we reiterate the demand for justice for Juan López and the communities.”

The Peace Brigades International-Honduras Project has accompanied Municipal Committee for the Defence of Common and Public Goods of Tocoa (CMDBCPT) processes and Guapinol River defenders since January 2019.
