PBI-Honduras accompanies ‘Viva Berta’ encampment in front of Supreme Court of Justice in Tegucigalpa

The Peace Brigades International-Honduras Project has posted on social media:

“Three months on, the ‘Viva Berta’ encampment continues its sit-in in front of the Supreme Court of Justice, demanding compliance with the rulings of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.

From the encampment, OFRANEH (the Fraternal Black Honduran Organization) denounces the institutional racism faced by the Garifuna community and emphasizes the importance of protecting nature and practicing mutual aid—both essential components of a sustainable communal life.

PBI acknowledges the rulings in favor of the Garifuna people and urges their implementation. We also reiterate that all peoples have the right to self-determination, and the right to live and practice their ancestral customs free from repression.”

From Canada, we continue to follow this.
