PBI-Colombia accompanies Nomadesc at ceremony in Buenaventura ‘remembering in resistance’ Alan Valencia

The Association for Social Research and Action (Nomadesc) has posted on social media:

‘Alan lives on, the struggle continues!’

With this slogan, family, friends and fellow students honour the memory of Alan Valencia, the 17-year-old murdered in the Los Pinos neighbourhood of Buenaventura on 11 September 2025.

A year on from this tragic event, the question remains: why? And although there may be no answer, our quest is for memory in resistance. We will not bow to oblivion, let alone to an oblivion devoid of justice and truth.

We remain standing in a place where joy, a love of life and dignity prevail, every single day, over violence and death.”

Accompaniment

Peace Brigades International has accompanied the Association for Research and Social Action (NOMADESC) since 2011 and its president Berenice Celeita since 1999.
