The Peace Brigades International-Colombia Project has posted on social media:
“The PBI team would like to express our full solidarity with the victims in every department across the country and our support for the affected families and communities.”
In the image posted to social media, PBI-Colombia also states:
“At PBI Colombia, we mourn the loss of life and the material damage caused by today’s [August 10, 2026] 7.4-magnitude earthquake in the country. We hope for a swift response from the Colombian government to this tragedy, which will help to mitigate the damage and provide relief to the affected communities. Our thoughts are with the families affected.”
This morning, ABC News reported: “Active rescue operations continued in western Colombia through into Wednesday [August 12, 2026] morning following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that authorities in Bogota said killed more than 224 people. Some of the hardest-hit regions include the cities of Pereira in the Choco region and Cali in the Valle del Cauca area.”
Global Affairs Canada has posted on social media: “Canada is deeply saddened by the loss of lives and devastation caused by the earthquake in #Colombia. Our heart is with all those affected. We are monitoring the situation and stand ready to provide assistance as appropriate.”
PBI-Canada is following the social media posts by PBI accompanied organizations, defenders and communities – including Credhos (and Fedepesan), Nomadesc and others – as they manage in the aftermath of the earthquake.
