Peace Brigades International-Canada Board member and lawyer Heather Neun participated in the International Caravana of Jurists delegation to Colombia in August 2022.

Earlier this year, the Caravana report on that visit was posted in English here.

Among the recommendations in the report, the delegation called on the Colombian government to ensure “effective protection for judges and other justice operators, those who defend human rights, civilians in areas of high territorial violence, and security guarantees for participants in social and political movements and leaders, ensuring there are independent, effective investigations and prosecutions of human rights violations.”

Now, on this coming Wednesday September 20 at 11:00 am Bogota time, the Spanish version of the report will be released. That launch in conjunction with the PBI-Colombia accompanied José Alvear Restrepo Lawyers’ Collective (CAJAR) will be virtual with simultaneous translation in Spanish and English.
