The Peace Brigades International-Mexico Project is seeking volunteers to be placed in the field as of August/September 2020!

As noted in our most recent Annual Report, “Ten international volunteers accompanied members of 16 organisations working on forced disappearances, impunity, women’s rights, indigenous rights and environmental protection.”

“Volunteers are divided into two field teams located in the north and south of the country, covering the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Oaxaca and Guerrero. Their activities are coordinated from the PBI offices in Mexico City.”

The volunteers chosen would need to commit to a year in the field with a PBI-Mexico team based in either Chihuahua or Oaxaca.

Travel and stay expenses are covered, including a stipend of €240 (CAD $350) per month for personal expenses. In addition, a repatriation of €45.00 (CAD $65) per month worked is paid upon successful completion of the annual volunteer contract.

The training/selection meeting week will take place in July/August (tbc) near Lisbon, Portugal.

Key requirements include fluency in Spanish, previous experience with social movements or NGOs, and a commitment to the mandate and principles of PBI.
