Making Space for Justice

PBI - Canada

Vision and Mission

Peace Brigades International (PBI) envisions a world where conflicts are addressed non-violently, human rights are universally respected, and social justice and intercultural dignity shape everyday life.

Mission

PBI creates space for peace by supporting people and organisations who use non-violent means to defend human rights. Our work is grounded in international presence, political observation, and solidarity with local initiatives that challenge repression. We act only at the request of local non-violent groups, and we accompany them so they can continue their vital work safely and with greater impact.

How We Approach Conflict

PBI’s international teams use a combination of protective accompaniment, peace education, observation, and conflict analysis to deter violence and help build cultures of justice. Our organisation is built on non-hierarchical structures and consensus-based decision-making, allowing volunteers and partners to participate meaningfully at every level.

What Our Partners Say
