PBI-Colombia accompanies gathering in Putumayo of environmental defenders, organizations working in defence of life and territory

The Inter-Church Commission for Justice and Peace has posted on social media:

“Puerto Asís, Putumayo. Over the course of three days, environmental defenders shared experiences to forge a common path in the defense of human rights and our territory.

The gathering brought together local, national, and international organizations—including PBI [Peace Brigades International], Global Witness, SUMAÚMA [a journalism platform], IPRI [Indigenous Peoples Rights International], and NICFI [Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative] – with whom we deepened our reflection on environmental protection efforts. Together, we identified shared challenges, strengthened our coordination, and defined strategies for advocacy in defense of life and our territory.

Because defending the territory means weaving trust, joining forces, and reinforcing the networks that protect life.

Defending the territory is a collective responsibility.”
