Nomadesc stands with SINALTRAINAL union members at Nestlé factory in Bugalagrande, Colombia

The Association for Research and Social Action (Nomadesc) has posted on social media:

“Since 8:00 a.m. on October 28, 2026, SINALTRAINAL [National Union of Food Industry Workers] affiliated workers have been on hunger strike at the entrance to the Nestlé factory in Bugalagrande.”

NOTIHECHOS also reports: “At this hour, workers with suspended contracts are protesting at Comestibles La Rosa in Dosquebradas. The drama continues for the 221 suspended contracts, which they call the ‘hunger games’ of the multinational Nestlé.”

And journalist Gerardo Calderón has posted: “The drama of the 221 workers of La Rosa in Dosquebradas continues, whose contracts are suspended by the multinational Nestlé. They are publicly protesting on Simón Bolívar Avenue waiting for a fundamental solution for their labor guarantees and for the facilities affected by the earthquake to be repaired as soon as possible.”

Another Nomadesc social media post highlights that the workers are demanding that Nestle:

– Revoke the suspension of contracts for more than 387 workers and pay their wages and social benefits.
– Repay the loans agreed upon to repair the homes of workers affected by the earthquake of August 10, 2026.
– Reinstate the rights agreed upon for retired workers.
– Report the value of insurance payouts received for the damage caused to the factory in Bugalagrande by the earthquake of August 10, 2026, and specify the risk coverage for the workers affected by the earthquake.

Peace Brigades International has accompanied Nomadesc since 2011 and its president Berenice Celeita since 1999.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has also partnered with Nomadesc beginning in 2003.
