PBI comments at the UN in Geneva on the report by the UN High Commissioner on Colombia, Guatemala and Honduras

On March 8, PBI-Colombia tweeted:

“We appreciate the reports from Guatemala, Honduras and Colombia; and we regret the persistence of attacks against defenders in the three countries.”

The video clip referenced in their tweet can be seen here.

Their Twitter thread adds:

“In Colombia we salute construction efforts #Peace. High rates of murder and attacks against defenders are worrisome, especially in territories, and persistent #impunity + lack of clarification of the perpetrators and masterminds.

We encourage the Colombian State to advance with civil society a public policy of #Guarantees for defenders, with collective and gender approaches.

In Colombia we underline the importance of putting an end to all illegal intelligence and surveillance actions against defenders #humanrights, also clarifying the role of foreign companies involved. We are confident in the advance of the #WomenSearchers bill.”

PBI-Geneva has tweeted the video clip of this intervention here.
