On December 6, PBI-Colombia tweeted:

“We were accompanying @Justiciaypazcol [the Justice and Peace Commission] in the conversation in #PuebloNuevo about restorative justice as a mechanism for the construction of #life and #peace from organized communities to seek guarantees of non-repetition.”

The previous day they had also tweeted:

“We were accompanying the @Justiciaypazcol in the framework of the XI Festival of #Memorias where different processes of resistance in the country met and dialogued based on their experiences in the construction of #peace and defense of the #life from the #territories.”

Justice and Peace also explained in their article:

“On December 1, 2 and 3, the XI Festival of Memories was held at the Lower Atrato in the framework of the commemoration of the 27th anniversary of the so-called ‘Black September’ operation, a joint military-paramilitary operation in September 1996, considered as a prelude to what was to come in the territory of Bajo Atrato, determining the year 1997 as the territorial emptying. dispossession and transformation of both the lives of communities and territories.”

The PBI-Colombia Project has accompanied the Inter-Church Justice and Peace Commission since 1994.
