PBI-Honduras visits the campesina community El Arrayán, Nueva Esperanza with the National Union of Rural Workers
On February 27, PBI-Honduras tweeted:
“Last week we visited the campesina base “El Arrayán, Nueva Esperanza”, in Comayagua, together with the Dutch embassy and the @CntcTegucigalpa [the National Union of Rural Workers. The community is about to celebrate its 40th anniversary and is still waiting for a community title.”
Their Twitter thread adds:
“At the meeting they shared their story with us, as well as the difficulties they have faced due to the challenges and specific forms of violence with a strong gender content that they face as women defenders of land, territory and the environment.
PBI welcomes the existence of spaces in which human rights defenders can make their reality known in different places, such as embassies. We highlight the commendable work of the community in the defence of access to land, food sovereignty and rural women’s rights. If you want to know more about the base click here.”
PBI-Honduras has accompanied the National Union of Rural Workers (CNTC) since May 2018.
