We hope you will be able to join us on Tuesday February 21 at 1 pm PT/4 pm ET for a webinar on the role of the RCMP’s Community-Industry Response Group (C-IRG) in the repression of Indigenous land defence struggles in Canada.

To register for this, please click here.

The C-IRG has been deployed against land defenders opposing the Coastal GasLink fracked gas pipeline on Wet’suwet’en territory, the TransCanada tar sands pipeline on Secwepemc territory, and Teal Jones logging on Pacheedaht and Dididaht territories.

There are questions about its tactics, use of force and exclusion zones, arrests of journalists, relationship with corporations and private security, understanding of Indigenous rights, and budget ($50 million since 2017).

The webinar will highlight the growing movement for the C-IRG to be dismantled.

Speakers:

– Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chief Na’moks

– Keith Cherry, who has submitted a complaint about the C-IRG to the Civilian Review and Complaints Commission for the RCMP

– Shivangi Misra, Feminist Alliance for International Action (FAFIA) and co-author of ‘The Toxic Culture of the RCMP: Misogyny, Racism, and Violence against Women in Canada’s National Police Force’

– Seb Bonet (PBI-Canada Board member and moderator of this webinar)
