On March 3, the Peace Brigades International-Guatemala Project posted on Facebook:

“On the South Coast, agribusiness hoards water and diverts riverbeds, leaving communities without access to water. In addition, the fumigation carried out without any type of control causes illnesses in people and losses in crops.

Learn about the situation of families on the South Coast. Let us demand that our authorities watch over the environment and act in favor of the population.”

It also recently posted:

“Do you know the struggle for water and life on the South Coast? Currently, human rights defenders are being criminalized for defending the human right to water. Join us and show your solidarity this March 14, date of its next hearing. Be informed and stand up for human rights defenders!”
